Shelley takes another win to
underline title victory
Croft Circuit played host to the
final two rounds of the 2008 Edwardes Bros MDA Rallycross
Championship, part of the 2008 Get Connected! SG Petch Rallycross
Superprix weekend.

Six members of the Revivals Rallycross team were in action during
the event - Shelley Wakeling, Richard Wakeling and Mark Griffin in
the Minicross category, Rod Stanniland in his Revivals Imp, Andy Lee
driving the ex Paul Wakeling Vauxhall Corsa in the Super National
category and Sam Kinirons in the Chris Birkbeck Rallyschool Junior
Rallycross Championship.
Saturday Report - October 25th 2008
After qualifying second on the grid behind Ian Thorndyke, Shelley
made a fantastic start in the A final to take home the win in the
Minicross category. Thorndyke and David Bell completed the podium
ahead of Mark Griffin in the second Revivals run Mini and Neil Wade.

Andy Lee made his debut in the Super National category with the
Vauxhall Corsa and had a strong run to the fifth fastest time in the
first set of heats until engine problems ended his weekend.
Rod Stanniland finished ninth overall in the B final with his
Hillman Imp which the Revivals team is continuing to develop, while
Sam Kinirons finished third in the B final in the Junior Rallycross
category.
Sunday Report - October 26th 2008
With the Championship already won, Shelley stepped down from her
Mini to allow Richard to drive the car on the second day of the
event. Richards Super National MG is currently having a new engine
fitted for the 2009 season following the blown head gasket that the
car suffered at Blyton last month. Richard qualified fourth on the
grid for the A final, behind Ian Thorndyke, David Bell and Neil
Wade. An incident with Thorndyke in the final put the pair to the
back of the field, leaving Richard to finish in ninth position. Mark
Griffin finished third overall and fourth in the Minicross
Championship.

Sam Kinirons was classified seventh overall in the Junior Rallycross
A final, while Rod Stanniland failed to finish the Revivals B final.

In conclusion it has been another fantastic season for the Revivals
Rallycross team with Shelley retaining her MDA Minicross title. For
2009 Shelley will graduate to the Procar 2000 category with a new
Honda Civic Type-R, while Andy Lee and Richard Wakeling will
continue in their quest to lift the Super National title in the
Rallycross Open Championship.

Shelley closes in on title
defence

Blyton Circuit (Lincolnshire)
played host to rounds five and six of the 2008 Rallycross Open
Championship sponsored by Hi Spec Motorsport and rounds six and
seven of the 2008 Edwardes Bros MDA Rallycross Championship last
weekend. Shelley, Mark Griffin, Richard and Rod Stanniland were all
in action at the event. The team also welcomed a new driver on board
- Sam Kinirons, son of Division 1 Irish driver Eddie, who Revivals
are now running in the Chris Birkbeck Rallyschool Junior Rallycross
Championship.

After two days of sunshine and high adrenaline racing at the
Lincolnshire venue in front of a large crowd the Mini’s once again
provided us some exciting and close racing - as they have done all
season. Shelley all but wrapped up the Championship with two wins,
making it look very easy. Mark Griffin (driving the second Revivals
Mini), Neil Wade, David Bell and Kris Hudson all kept the Revivals
team driver honest, but it was Griffin and Bell that claimed the two
podium places on day one, with Neil Wade and Hudson doing likewise
on day two. Shelley is the provisional Champion (Only Andy Lee can
beat her in the points standings, but is no longer racing in the
2008 Championship), but five drivers head to Croft next month with a
chance of taking second place when dropped scores are taken into
account.

In the Super National category, a
blown head gasket ended the day early for Richard, while Rod
Stanniland enjoyed a successful debut in his new Hillman Imp
Californian in the Revivals category.

Sam Kinirons finished 7th on
debut with the ex Charlie Budd Mini, which he followed up with a 9th
place finish on day two.

Shelley continues her
domination - this time in Europe

Shelley Wakeling continued her
fine form with another victory in the non Championship Minicross
race, at the Eurocircuit in Holland, part of traditional British
Rallycross Weekend. Mark Griffin finished second, with Ed Collett
completing the podium. Griffin raced the ex Andy Lee Revivals built
Mini in the event, which he has now purchased, following Lee's
decision to move up into the Super National category with immediate
effect.
As a result of the teams second
Mini being sold to Mark Griffin, Richard used the MDA hire car in
the event, recording a fine fourth place overall, just ahead of
David Bell. This is the first time Richard had been defeated in
Holland for a number of years, but at least the champagne has been
kept within the family!
The next event for the team is at
Blyton on September 13th & 14th, which is a double header round of
the 2008 Rallycross Open Championship sponsored by Hi Spec
Motorsport and the 2008 Edwardes Bros MDA Rallycross Championship.

host to the fourth round of the 2008 Rallycross Open Championship
sponsored by Hi Spec Motorsport and the fifth round of the
2008 Edwardes Bros MDA Rallycross Championship, part of the Best of
British Rallycross Weekend.
On a day that started dry,
turning into torrential rain throughout the afternoon it was Shelley
Wakeling who moved back into the Championship lead in the MDA
Minicross point’s standings after a lights to flag victory. Kris
Hudson took home a season best second place, followed by David Bell,
Sean Douglas driving the MDA hire car, Neil Wade, Chris Cairns,
Brian Wade, Martin Knowles and Mark Griffin.

the Vauxhall Corsa of Paul Wakeling and will debut the car in the

the remainder of the 2008 Minicross season.

Andy regains lead in Minicross
Championship

Pembrey (Carmarthen) played host
to the third round of the 2008 Rallycross Open Championship
sponsored by Hi Spec Motorsport. A Warm day combined with a happy
atmosphere set the scene for the drivers, teams and spectators, as
the Open Championship made its first visit to South Wales.

Revivals team driver, Andy Lee
took the Minicross honours just edging out team-mate Shelley
Wakeling. Lee started the A final from pole position despite not
finishing one heat after a collision with Andy Knowles. Kris Hudson
had been running third throughout the day, but suffered a
disappointing final to finish fifth overall, behind Mark Griffin and
Ralph Budd.

In the Super National category, a
first heat incident with Bruce Bamber damaged the rear axle and
suspension on Paul's Corsa. The team also managed to source a spare
stub axle from defending Champion Allan Tapscott, which resulted in
Paul qualifying sixth on the grid for the A final. With an ill
handling car Paul was forced to settle for sixth place overall in
the A final, leaving him third overall in the points standings
behind Ben Power and Mike Turpin.

Richard also continued his
development work with the MG finishing second in the B final behind
Irish visitor - Joe Cahill. The next round of the championship takes
place on July 6th at Croft Circuit (Darlington), one week before the
British Rallycross Weekend in Holland on Sunday July 13th.

2008 MDA Rallycross
Championship - Round 3 - Blyton Circuit

Blyton Circuit (Lincolnshire)
played host to round three of the 2008 MDA Rallycross Championship,
with three members of the Revivals Rallycross team taking part in
the event - Shelley, Richard and Andy.
In cold and windy conditions, it was Ian Thorndyke who set the pace
in the Minicross category during the heats to qualify on pole
position for the A final. Championship leader Andy Lee lined up
alongside Thorndyke in second position on the grid, where he was
joined by Revivals team mate and 2007 Champion Shelley Wakeling.
Mark Griffin occupied the fourth position on the grid, with Andy
Knowles, Kris Hudson, Neil Wade and David Bell completing the list
of starters.

At the start of the A final a first corner incident resulted in
heavy damage to the left rear corner of the Andy Knowles Mini,
bringing out the red flags. As the lights went to green for the
second attempt, it was Shelley who rocketed away from the grid to
lead into the first corner ahead of Thorndyke, Andy and the fast
starting B final winner - David Bell.
Mark Griffin was struggling after sustaining heavy damage to the
rear of his Mini in the first start, dropping the Yorkshireman down
to sixth place, behind Neil Wade but ahead of Kris Hudson. At the
front the top three circulated nose to tail and as they headed down
into the final corner of the final lap, Thorndyke attempted a "Tony
Bell" style move around the outside of Shelley throwing the car
sideways, but Shelley was to wise and held on to record a fantastic
victory and close the gap on the Championship leaders. Andy
completed the podium in the second Revivals Racing team Mini.

Richard also took part in the event with his MG, but a small problem
with the car in the A final resulted in a non finish. The
Championship now moves to Pembrey (Wales) in less than two weeks -
on Sunday June 8th, for round four of the MDA Minicross championship
and round three of the 2008 Rallycross Open Championship sponsored
by Hi Spec Motorsport.

2008 Rallycross Open & MDA
Championship - Round 2 - Blyton Circuit

The second round of the 2008 Open
and MDA Rallycross Championships took place at Blyton Circuit in
Lincolnshire on Sunday April 13th, in front of one of the biggest
crowds at the venue.

The Minicross category continued
to provide plenty of entertaining racing throughout the day, but it
was the top three from last season that continued to set the pace.
Andy Lee claimed pole by winning the first heat and then recording
the second fastest times in heats two and three. Ian Thorndyke and
Shelley Wakeling also claimed wins during the heats. Shelley led the
final initially, but Andy was to force his way through into the lead
and go on to record a well deserved victory. Shelley made a second
mistake dropping her back down into fifth place, leaving Thorndyke
to finish second overall ahead of David Bell who recorded his first
ever Minicross podium finish with his new 2008 specification car.

in the Super National category,
Paul finished in fourth position overall, which was slightly
disappointing considering he was the pace setter throughout the day.
Following on from his second place in the opening round of the
Championship at Croft, Paul had his sights set on overhauling Ben
Power at the top of the standings, but was elbowed out at the first
corner of the A final. This left Power to snatch victory from Mike
Turpin with Dean Jones completing the podium.

Richard narrowly missed out on a
place in the A final, with the MG, finishing third overall in the B
final. Despite this the rear wheel drive MG put on a terrific
display for the fans with Richards exuberant sideways driving,
recording a ten out of ten with the officials for
entertainment and style.
The third round of the 2008
Rallycross Open Championship, including the 2008 Welsh Rallycross
Superprix takes place at Pembrey (Wales) on Sunday June 8th, but
before then the MDA Championship hosts a clubmans event at Blyton on
Monday May 26th. Stay tuned online for all the latest information on
the Revivals Rallycross Team.

2008 Rallycross Open & MDA
Championship - Round 1 - Croft Circuit
The Revivals Rallycross team took
part in the opening round of the 2008 Rallycross Open and MDA
Rallycross Championships last weekend at Croft Circuit, with three
of the teams drivers returning home with silverware.

In the Super National category, Paul Wakeling took a heat win to
start the A final from the outside of the front row, with Richard
starting slightly further back in eighth position on the grid. At
the start of the final Paul battled his way past defending Champion
Allan Tapscott and set off up the road after Ben Power. Despite his
best efforts, Paul just ran out of time and could not find a way
through into the lead and settled for second place, taking home a
solid points score in the opening round of the Championship. Richard
finished the race in sixth place overall, after another close battle
with Gary Dixon and Stuart Coldron.

Shelley Wakeling began her title defence in the 2008 MDA Senior
Minicross Championship, which got underway with a four way battle
for the win in the A final. Revivals team driver Andrew Lee led away
from pole position, but Lee was soon overhauled by Ian Thorndyke who
took the win by just half a second. Shelley came home in third place
to get vital points on the board, followed by Andy Knowles, Brian
Wade, Mark Griffin, David Bell, Samantha O’Flanagan and Tanya Price.

The next event for the Revivals team is the Race Retro show at
Stoneleigh Park (Coventry) on March 14th-16th, where Shelley's
Championship winning car from 2007 will be on display.

Minicross 2008

The opening round of the 2008 MDA Rallycross championship takes
place at Croft Circuit on Sunday March 2nd and both Shelley & Andy
are looking forward to a full season of racing in 2008 with their
familiar Blue & White Minis. Both of the cars are now fully prepared
and have the benefit of rebuilt engines, which have been up and
running on the rolling road (Dyno).

Shelley is determined to retain the MDA Minicross title, but Andy
who is now in his second season of racing is a serious contender.

Super National
Paul starts the season with high hopes of winning the Rallycross
Open Championship Super National title in 2008 after finishing
fourth last season. Paul has made some modifications to his Vauxhall
Corsa, focusing on the steering & suspension which has dramatically
improved the handling of the car. The 2 litre engine is also now
producing really good power.

Richard will continue to use 2008 as a development year with the aim
more on winning races in his Revivals built MG ZS. The team are
planning to replace the current 2 litre engine with a 2.5ltr V6
during the course of the year.. Richard added ‘the MG is right in
every other aspect but just needs a little more OOMPH!!’ - he may
even fit a super charger. Richard finished the 2007 season in top
form by finishing second overall in the London Masters at London
ExCeL - his first podium position for the car.
Revivals
Revivals customer, Rod Stanniland who has raced his Green 436
Minicross car for the last few years, has now bought an ex Rally IMP
Californian which he will use in the ‘New Revivals’ Category
competing in all ten rounds of the MDA championship this year. The
IMP has been completely restored & prepared by Revivals. It will be
presented for the first time at ‘Race Retro’ show at
Stoneleigh on the 14th – 16th March 2008. Shelley's Championship
winning Mini will also be on show to promote the Minicross category.
